Dear My Friend of English Participants’ Speech Contest
My Lovely Audiences and the Distinguished Guests
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the World, the Master and the Creator of everything in the Universe, the Destroyer of all oppressors and the Hope of the oppressed, for giving us his mercy and blessing until we can meet together and attend this ENGLISH SPEECH CONTEST.
Peace and salutation be upon to the noble Prophet of Islam, Muhammad S.A.W. who brought us from the darkness to the lightness.
I express my gratitude from the bottom of my deepest heart to the master of ceremony for giving me valuable chance, so that I can speak in front of you all. I take this great opportunity to deliver a speech under the title:
“THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN THE INFLUENCE OF WESTERN CULTURE”
Ladies and gentleman,
Before I step to many words in my speech, let me to ask you firstly.
What is a western culture? What is the influence on Indonesian? And what is the role of youth?
I believe that a lot of you can answer this question, but perhaps they are in out there cannot answer; they just know how to follow and how to imitate it.
Actually this question is frequently asked by some people, as this thing is increasing day by day. There could be many reasons…it occurs may be due to the deviancy of our religion. Because the western culture, we have moved to the wrong side and have forgotten the difference between right and wrong and hence will be the prey of other cultures. Basically, we don’t understand our culture truly, its norms, its boundaries and don’t respect it…we feel proud to follow others step…why? Why don’t we feel proud to be ourselves?
The second reason is the media. The media today is exploiting the personalities of new generation. It presents the western world in such a glittering way that anybody can become its victim. I have seen many youngsters who have acquired the western culture like dressing, way of talking and eating…each and every thing reflects their obsession for the western culture. They loved to be called American than Indonesia…its really shameful that we have lost our true identity and are following others…..
My respectful audiences,
As the Indonesian people who embrace traditional eastern culture, we should be able to filter ourselves to accept whatever the cultures of good and bad. But if we cannot filter ourselves about the influx of foreign culture, over time we will forget our own culture.
The role of youth is important for the progress of the nation and the homeland, especially the cultural problems that exist in Indonesia. Without the youth who love the oriental culture, our country is nothing.
Many events that involved the youth, such as the drama of colonialism, traditional clothes performances, local dance performances, performances on the development of the Indonesian Nation, etc.. The events that really made me feel proud as an Indonesian Youth. The youth would play an active role in these celebrations enliven and who participate in conserving the Indonesian culture and go to eliminate western culture.
Ladies and gentleman,
Looking at onslaught of Western cultural influences that enter and damage the morals of this nation rarely, we close ranks Indonesian youths to pay more attention to our culture that is rich in indigenous knowledge.
So ....Let us build morals of our culture that have been faded by the western culture, do not let the cultures were ingrained in our beloved Indonesia, because our Indonesia is more superior.
I think that’s all of my speech. I hope my brief description on this speech will be useful for us. Finally, I would like to say sorry if there are mistakes in my speech words. Thank you for everything.
